  1. You may find that ‘I’ on Air Seychelles is Coach as that is how my flight is showing once the confirmation comes through. Shows Business Class on the web site at time of booking and Coach in the confirmation

  2. I booked 2 adding on PRI-SEZ-AUH (Stop Over) and AUH-DUB.

I made sure it booked into W on EY, so I can accrue on AA.

    • You seriously called about a mistake fare? Do you not know the first rule about this kind of thing? Ugh.

  3. You people are stupid. Calling expedia. Calling the airlines. How selfish. Ruining the deal for everyone else. You book, you wait, then-when the deal is done-you call.

That’s why DO NOT CALL THE AIRLINES was in BOLD!!

  4. I think you misunderstand. If you buy this online you are ticketed an economy seat. There is no deal. I just called to check my confirmation email stating I class is economy/coach was correct. It is correct.

    • If you check on the EY website, it will showed ticketed in business class. Eventually we’ll all find out and I’m fairly sure there will be free refunds if you’re not satisfied. πŸ™‚

  5. Lol- I didn’t call… The deal was dead the second it was blogged about. These things aren’t for the masses folks.

  6. George, it’s sad you are screwing this up for others instead of sitting quietly on the sidelines where you belong. In the future, just stick to amateur mode and let the pros have at it.

  7. Jamie, You are spot in regarding George’s behavior, but you do have to remember, he “is” a monkey. Monkeys are generally up to no good and can’t be trusted.

Side note: my confirmation is booked in W, which is biz. And the I segment is too.

  8. Coach or Business, WTF difference does it make @$350? Those who called – for ANY reason are genuine IDIOTS. In any case, chances are 99.5% that they won’t honor it anyway. Again, a Very Special Foxtrot Yankee to the bubble heads that called agents or the airline. Idiots, the lot of you!

  9. why did the blogger post this? so that these fools could call the airline and OTA? this is amazingly STUPID!!!

    • Yes, because you can do that after they fare is discovered and removed. Calling the airlines raises the possibility that they know that the fare is mispriced. I’m not saying calling will kill the fare, but it’s generally a practice adhered to when a mistake fare is found.

    • Yep, because I don’t think you would have called if I hadn’t posted on boardingarea. I would say (and I could be wrong but) calling the airlines will make it 1000x more likely for the fare to be found that if it was on BA, since there were already dozens of bookings from the many pages of discussion in the FT thread.

  10. Thanks for the heads up! Booked, though I never received a confirmation email, and it’s been nearly 12 hours. I don’t have high expectations, but it’ll be cool if it does get honored. Time to wait quietly and see… πŸ™‚

    • You’re welcome! I’m surprised they haven’t pulled it yet but I’m sure all the confirmation emails and everything will get sorted out once they wake up to an (unfortunate) rude shock tomorrow morning.

  11. I called the airline and they said that this was an economy ticket. I am so mad. I just emailed the CEO to let him know how I feel. Hopefully I will get upgraded top business class πŸ˜‰

    • WTF, why call the airline and ruin this blah blah blah, even though it is on a blogg used by thousands, I am sure it is top secret and that the airline do not know about it. You have spoilt htis for everyone now and I am very very upset

      • Were you able to find business class availability on Ethiopian? I only see economy award tix for ethiopian to SEZ unfortunately.

      • I checked on ethiopian but don’t see any from BOS-SEZ, sorry I’m new to this. Do I need to call ethiopian and ask them to use my UA miles if there’s one available?

    • Yep I publically apologize for George’s lack of understanding.

George- it’s not that the ‘deal’ isn’t dead yet by meaning you can still book it, that will end in due course. The problem is that what you book will be cancelled.

It’s not your fault for not knowing, you were given some information here, and a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing…

        • I strive to treat people appropriately. You as a person with a travel blog yourself I would hold to higher standard than your average Monkey. I also hold Jeff to blame for your errors for sharing the info on the blog.

Though I think he acted with good intentions to help the readers by doing so he included people who aren’t yet aware of the risks that come with squeeking through such ‘mistake’fares.

I hope they’re all honored and everyone has a blast in the Seychelles but the way I see it the more people that get in on the deal the higher the chance for the cover to get blown.

The more people that know of a secret deal the less chance of it remaining secret. One might consider teaching a man to fish…

          • Sharing info is an error. Very strange attitude. Why do you have a website?

I think Jeff is right to post this. What I find difficult to understand is all the anger. None of these deals last, most aren’t honoured and it is certainly morally dubious at best. No action changes this. Don’t scapegoat people, welcome them. Learning is a very vulnerable process and asking for help is one if the hardest things to do

No one born with knowledge. You have all learnt it. You were all newbies once. No matter how hard you want to deny it.

          • Very true. The point is that the people work at the airlines are as dumb as the people needing spoon feeding deals. Mistake fares and magic deals don’t work when they are so broken down that the entry is available for all, because if they did then no mistakes would be made to take advantage of.

There are many deals available right now, but unless people know how to access them they implode for everyone- if a blogger like Jeff releases information to the masses then the chances of a guy messing up increases. I agree that you’re not born with the knowledge not to mess up, but when you are given the keys to the Ferrari I’d hope you have passed your test already.

The big problem is that by the time the news gets to the guy who is clueless there are hundreds of tickets booked, and then the airline retroactively refunds everything.

Best of luck to you both as you navigate building readership whilst not burning your bridges…. An amazing deal alert that gets refunded is just a refund.

  12. I’m having some trouble finding this. I have searched one-way on Expedia.co.uk matching the dates posted as well as some others that would be more convenient for me and I’m coming up short. I don’t want to call it dead, but is anyone able to verify its still active and if so, which dates?

    Great find!

  13. Please stop killing deals like this by posting them on your blog.

If you find a mistake fare yourself, fine, post it.

If you are just copying it from another forum, just don’t do it. You are not doing anyone a favour, except the publicity for yourself.

    • How am I killing the deal? I’m fairly sure I’ve done scores of people favours in publicly posting the mistake fare that they wouldn’t have found out about had I not posted. And that to me is worth more than any haters posting on here from FT.

      • Oh please. Don’t try to sell a selfish act as a selfless one.

Next time, send a mass email to everyone on the globe, and try to publish it in all paper and online newspapers. Then you have done an even better deed.

          • It could be considered selfish that you’re primary reason to post here was to increase your relationship with your readers. Either by helping the current ones out or by getting new ones.

It is fair to say that by increasing the pool of people who are aware of this you increase the likelihood that the airline will also be aware of this, either by reading about the mistake from more sources or from opening it up to people who aren’t too confident with the booking process and panic and call in.

I think you acted with good intentions, but I think you can see why people are not happy with this too – you do at least have to include yourself in the blame should it blow up and all tickets are retroactively cancelled, since you were an enabler here.

          • I just want to say that I had no expectation of page views. I just wanted people to know about the mistake fare. Even if the mistake fare isn’t honoured, why would it be my fault? Everyone booking a mistake fare should know there is an inherent chance that the fare might not be honoured. I guess maybe I should add that disclaimer next time. Thanks for your comment.

          • The is a direct correlation between the number of people who know about anything that is advantageous, such as mistake fares, manufactured spending tactics etc and the speed in which it is identified and shut down.

If just one person slips through quietly then it works, but if a herd of wild elephants try the same thing everything gets locked down.

You don’t have to be accountable – but you are involved in the distribution of the information, so you are part of the problem.

Next time, don’t publish it… the readers that are savvy enough to figure it out get to it, those that aren’t don’t – and by raising the entry level you reduce the risk of other readers losing out.

There are probably a couple of readers here that didn’t know about it and have actually booked it, but as a percentage, those that do will be much more likely to ruin it for the rest. Not all will, don’t get me wrong, but it really only takes one call to start the investigation that cancels all tickets.

  14. Why kill the deal by copying it from FT? Plain stupidity on your part to steal from FT and blast it all over your blog
