One of the things you should always do in the miles and points world is pick up low hanging fruit. Along with signing up for the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite which comes with 30,000 bonus Aeroplan miles, I realized I hadn’t signed up for Air Canada Altitude Students.
Air Canada Altitude Students Benefits
Air Canada Altitude Students is not elite status, but a benefits program Canadian post-secondary students can get. The current benefits are a 10-15% discount code on paid fares, as well as a free one-hour wifi session. Air Canada wifi is powered by Gogo, so I’m assuming the code should be valid for any airline that also has Gogo like American, Alaska or Delta.
To verify you’re eligible, you have to upload a screenshot of your University ID card, although I have no idea how they authenticate the image, since there’s no expiration date on the front of my UBC ID. It’d be unlikely they could distinguish between a current student and someone who already had graduated but still had their ID.
It’s not much, but pretty good for a few minutes of work.

How does a student manage to apply for this card when the offer says
“You’re eligible to apply if you:
Are earning $60,000 in annual personal income”?
Well obviously you’d need to meet the requirements… if you don’t then you wouldn’t be eligible.
