That’s right! Thai is putting in a new fifth-freedom route (which they haven’t operated for several years) and they are putting a 777-300ER on the BKK-KIX-LAX route. Airline Route mentioned it a few days ago, but it seems like they have loaded award space into the system now. This is in addition to the BKK-ICN-LAX route which they already operate.
There are at least two seats on each flight which operate alternating days of  Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to KIX and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on the way back. Remember, Thai doesn’t release any more than 2 business class/4 economy class seats on flight flight at a time, so you need to hold two seats (with US Airways or United) and wait for Thai to release two more seats they’ve hidden.

excellent new route. i find that TG to be one of the most generous award-releaser among Star.
If only they’re willing to do NYC-XYZ-BKK with XYZ being some airport in Europe…. then my life will be complete.
Great post. Wish I could take advantage of this one. But I really, really wish they would resume direct LAX-BKK service.
My wish is they find a way to run a 3 class plane on this route.
