I’m pretty sure this is new as I didn’t see this when Alaska first released award charts for Emirates redemptions, so I thought I would give it a mention (since I didn’t even know that this was possible until when I checked yesterday).
As well as allowing redemptions from North America to the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, you can now redeem your miles on Emirates to Europe.
The award chart is as follows:
At first glance it looks pretty poor since this is higher than a lot of other award charts. But what’s interesting is that Emirates currently only has one non-stop route between Europe and North America which is New York to Milan. So it only makes sense that you can route via Dubai, right? Yes you can!
So this is certainly a very stylish way and not a bad redemption to go to the middle east and Europe in one trip, especially since you can get a stopover on a one-way partner award with Emirates, no fuel surcharges required.

I could be wrong but I think when Emirates Jfk-MXP starts operating the required mileages will be lower.
So you can stop over there for a couple of days in either direction? Or just a connect?
Yes, you can put in a stopover for a few days (or more) in Dubai.
Alaska has shown Emirates awards to Europe since at least July. IMO much better than BA or AA awards to Europe. The BA are so expensive and the AA are usually on their old product with ridiculous layovers/stopovers in American cities(to get back to the west coast at least).
The JFK-DXB-MXP J redemption looks very interesting, too bad the max I can get from Credit Card Churn now is 51K from AS at the moment (25K from AS CC and 21k from SPG), still short 21K.
I mean still short 24K.
well you get a 5k bonus for converting spg. 🙂 but you could also buy miles to make up the remainder.
quick question about this.. how to you search for emirates awards available for partners. Alaska?
Expertflyer or Alaska.
