The Andaz Tokyo is a new Hyatt property in Tokyo that I have been watching with great interest. Along with the Park Hyatt New York (which is now bookable) and the Park Hyatt Vienna, this is one of the properties I’m really interested in staying at this year.

Today I now see that the Andaz is now open for reservations starting June 11th, 2014. The paid rates in my opinion are surprisingly high and almost on par with the Park Hyatt Tokyo. The opening offer rate is 38400 JPY for their base level Andaz King/Twin room which is roughly ~$380, while their regular rates are close to $480.

However, you can use 25,000 points for the base room, as it is currently Category 6, so you are getting just around a 1.5 cent value.

I called in to check for cash and points rates, but unfortunately they haven’t been loaded into the system yet. Suites are bookable for 40,000 points with a three night minimum stay, though which is a decent deal.
