Aeroplan is relaunching their text message service.

If you don’t collect Aeroplan miles often, this is a good way to extend the expiration date of your miles, which expire if you have 12 months of inactivity. Alternatively, Aeroplan miles are transferrable from both CA and US Membership Reward as well as SPG at a 1:1 ratio.

A simple way to boost your Aeroplan balance if you’re Canadian is the American Express AeroplanPlus Gold Card offers a limited-time bonus of 30,000 miles upon signup and $500 spend within three months, and the first year annual fee waived. I wrote a complete review of the card in this post.

You’ll get up to three text messages per month with information about news and promotions. For signing up before September 15, you’ll receive 100 miles into your account credited 3-4 weeks after you’ve subscribed. To do so, text your Aeroplan Number to 27767, and confirm that you accept their text messages. You also have the chance to win 50,000 miles but I would think the probability of that happening is extremely low.
