Update: Take a close look at the pending charges on your credit cards. Edreams is very, very buggy and I’ve heard mixed reports. Only certain airlines work.

Reading a couple sites, I found a really interesting deal that I thought that I’d share.

If you’ve heard, the Egyptian Pound was significantly devalued over the past few days. This has led to incredibly cheap premium class airfares out of Cairo, such as sub-1000$ fares to LA on Qatar business class.

However, you can take this even further. There are various OTAs out there who may price tickets in Egyptian pounds, even if the ticket is not originating in Egypt. One example is Edreams Egypt. So if you book something like Vancouver to Maui, where the normal price on Google Flights is around $200:

However, because Edreams is pricing tickets in Egyptian pounds, without having adjusted the exchange rate, fares are up to 40% off! Here’s a screenshot of the fare on Edreams.

According to Google, 1865 EGP is around 120 USD.

That’s absolutely crazy. I haven’t ticketed anything, and I’m “hoping” it’s bookable, but we’ll see. Keep in mind that if you’re using a credit card with no foreign currency conversion fee, there’s still the actual exchange rate to look at as the issuer rates usually are slightly delayed compared to the Google/market rate.
