One of the bonuses that return roughly every year is the increased signup offer for the MBNA Best Western MasterCard. The normal bonus is 20,000 points, which is not worth getting. However, increased offers vary between 40,000 and 60,000 points. The increased bonus is now back!
Until August 31, 2017, you can earn up to 60,000 points on the MBNA Best Western MasterCard.
MBNA Best Western MasterCard – 60,000 Points
To get the signup bonus, there is a minimum spend requirement of $2,000. After your purchase, you get 20,000 points, another 20,000 after spending $1,000, and finally the last 20,000 after spending $2,000. This has to be completed within 3 months of opening the account.
Other than the signup bonus, there’s nothing special about this card. You earn 5 points per dollar on Best Western purchases, and 1 point per dollar on everything else. Other than travellers who frequent BW properties a lot, this is a bad card for everyday spend.
The best credit card to use for everyday spend, in my opinion, is the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express. You earn 1 SPG point per dollar, which can be 3 Marriott Points, 1.25 Aeroplan, Alaska miles, or any of the 30+ airline miles which SPG transfers to.

The Best Western Mastercard also gives Gold Status, which gives you an upgrade at properties, but it’s easy to just match your status to a higher tier if you have status with another chain, like Marriott Gold, Hilton Gold, or SPG Gold from the American Express Platinum Card.
From my understanding, you are able to get this card multiple times, so it’s fine if you had the card before.
MBNA Best Western MasterCard – Rewards
Even though I’ve picked up a few cards, I’ve actually never used Best Western points. But that’s because I don’t really like staying at Best Western or equivalent non-luxury properties. When redeeming for Best Western properties, there are a few categories of prices, from 8,000 to 36,000 points.

The points, in my opinion are worth at least 0.5 cents, from a few searches. It looks like they’re an option in smaller American towns and in Europe. So, if you ever want to go to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, you can use your points there.

Alternatively, you can redeem for gift cards or transfer them to airline miles at a 5:1 ratio, which isn’t the best redemption value, but probably what I’m going to do since I don’t have any particular desire to stay at a Best Western anytime soon.

I did submit the application through the link and approved. However, when I called MBNA directly to confirm Best Western Card promotions. They said it is only 20,000 point currently offered and they don’t know about bonus points.
BW is centre strip Las Vegas with no resort fee and free parking.
In LV, location is *everything* and this BW has it.
